MOVING LANDSCAPES

Moving Landscapes is a partnership project between Grays Wharf and Rachael Jones, a filmmaker and researcher who uses collaborative processes to explore alternative recordings of the landscape.

Three artists, Kitty Hillier, Rosanna Martin and Oliver Raymond-Barker, have collaborated with Rachael to record circular walks in the landscape; producing audio and visual materials as a starting point for new works in film, photography, sculpture and ceramics. The materials have also inspired a range of creative activities for people living with dementia, their families and carers.

The project participants are members of the Sensory Trust and are based across Cornwall, from Bude to Hayle. During May and June 2021, they have been working with the creative activity packs and talking to Kitty, Oli, Rose and Rachael about the work they have been making: ceramic crystal shapes, sound sculptures, collage maps, photography and sketchbooks. All of the works created have been exhibited in a major exhibition at Grays Wharf in July 2021.

Key to this project’s success is the professional input and support received from dementia practitioner Ellie Robinson-Carter, the Sensory Trust and Jayne Howard from Arts Well.

This project is possible thanks to funding received from Arts Council National Lottery, Cornwall Council and the generous support of people who donated to the Crowdfunder campaign.
